Lailanie wraps up her Doc New Leaders cohort year with Fundraising panel at DOC NYC on Nov 15th

Lailanie Gadia wraps up her 2023 Doc New Leaders cohort year at the 2024 DOC NYC PRO conference with a panel with 3 of her cohort honorees titled “Real Talk: Fundraising in the Current Documentary Landscape” on November 15, 2024 on Funding Day.

Lailanie will draw on her experience as A-Doc’s Operations Director, an early career indie producer, a financial services entrepreneur, and various experiences she has had in the past related to marketing, sponsorships, partnerships, and programming.

DOC NYC New Leaders Jamie Dobie (Represent Justice), Kelsey Koenig (Impact Partners), Lailanie Gadia (Asian American Documentary Network), and Sarah Rachael Wainio (Documentary Producers Alliance) will share candid insights into the challenges and opportunities in fundraising for documentaries today, offering step-by-step guidance on developing an effective strategy. Learn how to identify potential funders, diversify funding sources, and build strong relationships. The session will include real-time guidance using a pre-selected audience member’s film as a case study. This panel involves audience engagement.
